Hello, this is UniAuction.

We would like to announce changes to the international shipping base currency and rates that will be implemented by UniiAuction on 2016/2/1.

Since 2012, UniiAuction has maintained shipping fees despite rising air freight costs, absorbing the increased airfare ourselves in order to provide our customers with satisfactory shipping rates and service based on the current KRW amount at that time.

However, as the continued increase in air freight costs has accumulated and the exchange rate, which has risen 10–15% compared to last year, has persisted for a long period, we have reached a point where it is no longer feasible to charge freight fixed in KRW. After considering whether to reduce costs by simplifying inspection and compensation services or to maintain our existing service while increasing freight charges, we have decided to change the payment base currency from KRW to USD.

With USD freight, if the exchange rate rises, the actual amount you pay in KRW will also increase; if the exchange rate falls, the KRW payment amount will decrease as well.

However, when making payment, you may still choose either to pay with a credit card that supports overseas transactions, as before, or to pay in KRW.
The KRW payment amount will be billed after conversion using the bank’s posted transaction reference exchange rate at the time of packing.

Along with the change in the freight base, in order to enhance the benefits of UniiAuction’s additional services, option fees such as inspection fees, multi-box fees, and Delaware transfer fees have been reduced compared to before, return fees have been lowered, the volumetric weight benefit has been improved, and the scope of claim services has been expanded in cases where received items are defective.

The changed shipping fees and additional service fees are as follows.

Option fees when requesting shipping

Return fee - $5.0
Basic inspection fee - $0.5
Detailed inspection fee - Basic inspection fee + $1.0 per item
Multi-box fee - $2.5
Delaware transfer fee - $1.0 per request
Split shipment fee - $3.0 (splitting for the purpose of avoiding customs duties is not possible)
Repacking fee - $2.5
Consolidated shipping fee - $1.0 per item for orders exceeding 3 items
Photo fee - $0.5 per photo

Shipping discount coupons
Currency conversion for existing amount coupons - converted at $1 for every 1,000 KRW. (Example: an existing 3,000 KRW discount coupon = $3 discount)
Coupon system improvement - Based on the last day of each month, coupons will be issued to customers who used the service a certain number of times during that month. (Excluding business members)

2 uses: two $2 coupons

3 uses: one $3 coupon, two $2 coupons

4 uses: two $3 coupons, two $2 coupons

5 uses: one $5 coupon, two $3 coupons, two $2 coupons


Claim handling service

Previously, claim services were provided only when a product was defective, but this will be expanded to include exchanges for defective products, tracking information inquiries, and return label inquiries. However, services such as simply contacting the shopping mall on your behalf are excluded from this service.


Volumetric weight
Previously, volumetric weight was always charged at 50%, and for items over 30 inches, 70% was charged.
From 2/1, volumetric weight will be waived uniformly for items with all three dimensions of 20 inches or less. For items with any one side measuring 20 inches or more, 50% will be charged, and even items exceeding 30 inches will be charged at 50% instead of 70%.
However, volumetric weight for items of 70 inches or more will be calculated at 100%, and business customs clearance items or cases where large quantities of boxes 20 inches or larger are shipped will be calculated at 100% without exception.

Business rates
We will contact business customers individually regarding the rates that are currently being set on a case-by-case basis according to shipment volume.
